GLI ACCELERATORI NUCLEARI NELLA TERAPIA DEI TUMORI

Abstract

The main advantages of hadrontherapy against the traditional radiotherapy are reported. After a brief review of particles accelerators, the facilities of the ‘Centro Nazionale di Adroterapia Oncologica’ (National Center of Oncological Hadrontherapy) in Pavia are described with details on the patient positioning and beam irradiation systems.
