“Questo lavoro descrive il caso di un trapianto di rene fra due gemelli. L’intervento ha avuto successo. La funzione del rene trapiantato è buona". Sono le prime due righe di un vecchio articolo su “Surgical Forum”. L’intervento era stato fatto a Boston, da Joseph Murray, due giorni prima di Natale del 1954. Da allora di trapianti ne sono stati fatti, al mondo, più di un milione, (più di 600.000 di rene).
