On the double occasion of Calvino’s centenary (1923-1985) and of the twenty years since the death of Ilya Prigogine (1917-2003) we follow their dialogue at a distance between explicit references and mutual inspirations. From the Six Memos for the Next Millennium, in which Prigogine’s thoughts shine through, to the review dedicated from Calvino to the essay La Nouvelle Alliance some years before the italian and english translations were published. From the narrative dimension of the universe, to unexpected events, to time bifurcations. And over again: Cosmicomics and the reenchantment of science, Bauman’s Liquid Modernity, experiment as art and poetry as the great enemy of chance.
