This conference for the newly published critical edition of the six lecture son psychology of the associated minds, reconstructed and integrated with new materials, takes place in the same meeting room where one hundred and fifty years ago Carlo Cattaneo gave his last lecture at Istituto Lombardo. Cattaneo’s lectures keep intact their theoretical vitality and imaginative impetus in a broad intellectual context that goes from individual and social psychology to scientific thought and methodology of thought. Cattaneo was in favour of the unity of knowledge and argued for a synthesis between humanistic and scientific culture; in the lectures philosophy and science are closely intertwined.
