SAKARAKLÚM E FÃÃSNÚ: VALORI DI TESTO E VALORI DI LINGUA

Abstract

In this paper we take into account two Oscan words, sakaraklúm and fíísnú; these words, strictly related between each other, belong to the sanctuary environment. We try to define the lexical value based on their context of use. We therefore consider the types of documents witnessing them (i.e. the public inscriptions of the samnitic sanctuary of Pietrabbondante, Isernia, and the Cippus Abellanus) and the distribution of the two terms within these texts (the complementary distribution in the texts from Pietrabbondante and the coexistence of these terms in the Cippus Abellanus). We can find further elements for a more accurate definition of their lexical value in the grammatical structure of the investigated texts.
