The essay aims to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Italo Calvino (1923) and that of the death of Carlo Emilio Gadda (1973), undoubtedly two of the greatest no doubt writers and narrators of the Italian twentieth century. The critical analysis is based above all on the revealing comparison of the overall divergences (cultural, narrative, expressive, personal, experiential, ideological) between the two brilliant and very different authors.
